Lord, does he ever. The guy’s a policy wonk down to his bones, and even that’s not deep enough. Yeah, he was a comedian, but he’s also a very serious guy under all that and really takes the time to learn an issue inside and out. Agree or disagree with him, at least he reads the shit he votes on, which is more than can be said for most legislators.

Franken’s attention to detail and to the minutiae of a bill or an issue is what made his radio talk show so dull at times that you could feel your eyes glazing over and your brain begging for someone to start screaming “Baba Booey! Baba Booey!” just to liven things up, but at least you knew he was informed.
