Today, I saw part of a Ron Paul speech excerpted on CNN, and some on-air discussion about it, without a hint about Dr. Paul’s inexcusable associations with white supremacists.

This, and the “white civil rights organization” Fox News story, is what happens when we don’t have universal condemnation of Ron Paul’s links to white supremacists, Pat Buchanan’s racist rhetoric, Louis Farrakhan’s anti-Semitic ravings, etc. It’s essential that large majorities in both parties come out and say it, as often as necessary: explicit haters, especially Nazis and white supremacists, are beyond the pale, third-rail, radioactive. If these haters aren’t strongly rejected by large majorities in both parties, there will be people (like that Fox News “journalist”) who see them as “just the other side of the controversy”.
