I don’t down-ding for much, but the Electoral College has saved us from more bad presidents than it’s led to. And it’s the last stand against direct democracy—which the Founders were very much opposed to, considering that their own history books would have pointed out the way that that led to the English Civil War and various disastrous cases of mob rule.
