re: #112 Charles Johnson

Sorry, but I don’t respect this at all. One of the reasons I started this blog was to push back against the media’s “view from nowhere,” in which reporters are not expected to ever react to what they’re reporting on.

And one of the reasons we’re in this incredibly messed up situation with a Trump in the White House is because of this view from nowhere, in which every viewpoint is entitled to equal consideration and respect, no matter how willfully, deliberately dishonest it is, as long as it makes money for the company.

People like Jeffrey Lord are gaming this corrupt, spineless system. Anderson Cooper had a brief moment in which his better self simply couldn’t take it any more. And now he’s backing down.

That’s not a win, and it’s not professional. It’s why we’re in this mess.

I understand your frustration, I really do.

But integrity, in the long run, wins. The zombies who watch and believe whatever comes out of the glass tit from Faux News are unreachable at this point. They’re done, and there is no convincing them. Ever.

It’s the rest of the polity that will defeat the whack jobs, and that means Independents. They don’t watch Faux News because it’s a propaganda vehicle, not a news channel. If CNN descends to that level, it will become what it most despises. Another propaganda vehicle.

I also find it frustrating as hell, and it pisses me off no end. But we cannot morph into what we rightly find is despicable and maintain any high ground.

It’s called fighting the good fight for a reason. I may be naive, but I believe that patience and the continued reporting of Facts will win the day.

And if not, there was nothing worth saving in the first place.
