The GOP will do what its going to do. The real reasons Franken should resign are first, what he did, forcing his tongue into her mouth, is sexual assault, and horrendously wrong. Second, he should resign not because of what the GOP will do, but because the Democrats need to show all the women who have been energized to get involved and fight for their rights that they are not a good ole boys club like the GOP. I kind of miss the old days of British politics when ministers would resign like gentlemen when the need arose rather than fighting to cling to public office as though their lives depended on it.

OK, I’m probably gonna get in big trouble here, but let me take your points as I see them. First, it’s damn near physically impossible to “force” your tongue into anybody’s mouth without some degree of openness. Second, even if this happened as you describe, it in no way compares with the actions of people like Roy Moore and hardly fits with some scenario of a “good ole boys club like the GOP.” Third, I think your view of “the old days of British politics” is charmingly rose-tinted.
