I almost never use the word ‘Evil’, because invariably it means “Things I really hate”. AND it’s so often used by people trying to deny the humanity of people who commit horrible acts. By denying humanity to them, we try to put those acts outside of what humans are capable of.

The same is true of people who attribute bad acts to a Devil.

Which is why I hate the mental illness cop out. People don’t want to admit sound minds can and do commit violent acts.
