I would add that Trump’s policies on trade really aren’t that different from what Bernie would have wanted to do. I really hope he doesn’t run and if he does run, someone pounces on the fact that Steve King once praised his record on immigration and he’s quite ineffective as well for someone who likely if he runs will be the second longest Congress tenured person and certainly will if Biden runs. Sanders and his supporters just don’t get it. You want to depress minority turnout in 2020? Have an even older white guy than Trump as our nominee with limited appeal who is just as grumpy and dismissive to criticism as Trump is. I’m sorry. Ideologically yeah there’s a good difference between Bernie and Trump but personality wise, they are way too close for comfort for me.

Sanders being nominated would just about guarantee the Republican wins, unless Kasich’s third party run steals votes from the GOP. Sanders has no appeal outside of the young, urban, white, leftie demographic. He would be the McGovern of the 21st century.
