It’s meaning is well-known. It means that if you’re being paid by someone, you should treat their property as your own, do everything you can to protect it, etc. It suited a time and a place when you had face-to-face meetings with the guy hiring you. It has a lot less applicability to a modern corporate atmosphere. And it’s kind of just amusing for any of us that deal with ‘brands’ on a daily basis.

I don’t know Obdicut. I know that in every corporate structure I’ve worked in, those who “ride for the brand” tend to have better careers. Perhaps it has morphed a bit for the times, but if enough people treat the companies property like it is your own and keep profits in mind, everyone will have a job.
