re: #12 Timothy Watson

…uh, what?

Last I checked, I simply corrected someone on what command she was assuming.

I don’t get it either.

I would have posted the same reply on the difference between the Pacific Air Force Command and the U.S. Pacific Command If I had seen R.H.’s comment first. PACAF is only one part of the USPACOM which includes surface (naval), subsurface (submarine), Air Force (fighters, bombers, transports, refueling tankers, etc), Army (infantry and armor), and Marine (infantry, armor, ground support flight operations, and landing craft) components.

re: #9 Romantic Heretic

I’ll do some research when I get back from visiting my mom. I’m pretty sure we’ll find that we’ll find non-pilots there as well.

I would have to assume that the Washington Times already researched that question before they stated that no non-pilot has ever held the Pacific Air Force Command or any other command of equal size.

I’m not trying to say that the theory that only past pilots can properly command current pilots is in any way correct. Just trying to clarify the facts as they exist regarding this story.
