Since when are VP’s supposed to ‘stiffen’ the policies of their POTUS? Just seems like a weird story.

Technically, the VP is supposed to just stay alive for 4 years and twiddle their thumbs until the President dies or the Senate needs a tie breaker vote.

AFAIK George Washington actually kicked John Adams out of meetings and out of the pre-White House executive office because it wasn’t his job to be there or do anything. John Adams was bent about it too and ranted about how useless his position was.
