Giuliani, Graham, Barr etc. would not debase themselves and bet their future, and the future of the GOP itself, on this desperate ploy if they were not truly convinced that prison is the alternative. The widespread support for their shenanigans at lower levels of the GOP could well indicate that the fear of prison is similarly widespread. I really think that this is going to be the greatest scandal in history.

Or maybe they think this is their real chance at a permanent transformation of this nation into a white supremacist autocracy run by the GOP. Until Trump is actually evicted from the White House, I remain terrified about the immediate future. Barr has told Trump he has absolute unlimited power and the rest of the GOP has done nothing to disabuse him of this notion.
