Perhaps it’s a hopeful sign of the increasing irrelevance of Ann Coulter, but I see that here latest rants against Darwin and Evolution are getting less play than they used to.

Just today Human Events ran another one of Coulter’s anti-science rants… PZed picked up on one last week that ran, but other than the hard core creationism-battle types it hasn’t drawn much attention.

I’m wondering if Coulter is just trying to find a new sort of relevance in the wake of Perry’s ignorant remarks - given that Perry gets 1000x the media coverage that Coulter (and other fading talking heads) receive?

My take is that Coulter et. al. are speaking to a non-growing crowd, one that is shrinking (by deaths every day) slowly but surely.

My concern is that a far darker, and more knee-jerk, movement is forming among the populace, sprouting out of the dwindling opportunities for good jobs and the bleak outlook for retirees. Groups are capable of making quite stupid decisions, based on fears and insecurity.

I do hope that President Obama can rise to the occasion, a la FDR, and speak about the social well-being and that fear is too potent to be a play thing for nascent demagogues.

Ann - I’m terrified of becoming irrelevant - Coulter is fading into obscurity.
