To be fair, I think it’s perfectly okay for would-be-presidents to meet privately with donors. I don’t think we should allow unlimited donations, or any sort of corporate spending, but that’s the situation we’ve got. Meeting privately isn’t bad, as long as the candidate doesn’t exclusively do so.
In this case, it is just another weird Romney fuck-up because, after negotiating that press would be allowed into any public event, they arbitrarily changed the rules for this one. Not only is this a “So, we can’t even trust you on the small things?” moment, it’s also creates a big “Why?”.
