I wouldn’t discourage her from going down that path, but let her be aware of the problems and let her make that choice. The only way things improve is if enough women get into the industry and make the changes themselves. It can’t and shouldn’t be just a boy’s club because the guys are misogynistic and sexist.

Well, I’d also recommend against video game development for guy programmers, too. I almost wish developers would unionize and bust these stupid video-game magnates right in the mouth. Some of the stories I’ve heard coming out of these places are on par with early 1900’s abusive management.
