fwiw, I’ve concerns about the integration of women in male combat units. I think it should happen, but I think it needs to be done in stages.

(I recognize that some people use ‘stages’ to indefinitely restrict the change. Not my intent - I think the stages should be identified and a fixed time/condition for the next stage be used. but I digress…)

One of the less obvious but still critical issues is integration of combat unit barracks. Yes, most are ‘dorm rooms’, but there’s still the bathroom and shower issue. The issues of rape and sexual assault, already a problem, are going to have to be addressed again — and we’re probably going to have to roll some heads. Doing it as a lump is going to be problematic and expensive.

ON THE OTHER HAND: There is an argument that until it’s done the problems will continue. Make it a done deal and within a few years most of the military will get over it.
