Was talking to a detective/mystery fan a couple of weeks ago about a John D. MacDonald novel I’d recently read (“Murder In The Wind”), and he told me that according to the NY Times, MacDonald is considered old fashioned. I had to laugh. MacDonald is a terrific writer, and the NY Times is silly. My friend laughed too, since he’s also a devoted reader of MacDonald.
