Yes, that’s exactly how officials should be. It doesn’t matter in the least if a political party is a “private” entity or not. In their capacity as officials they no longer belong only to themselves. That’s just good practical policy. If you and I exchange emails it’s a whole lot different from when DNC higher-ups do.

So the higher-ups must abide by some unwritten code of conduct, policing themselves under the assumption that somebody will hack their emails and spread such to the public in an effort to undermine the party? That way lies madness.
