I know man. I know. Yet he’s very much a typical politician in that he lies and their heads are so far up their and his asses that they refuse to see it.

He is not a typical politician in that he has no history of public service or policy making.

Since most of Middle America sees politician = bad, then that is a bug plus for him in their eyes.

I see a similar reaction to the AfD, a right-wing populist, nationalist and anti-immigration party that just got 13% of the seats in the German parliament, making it the third-largest party in Germany after the centrist Social Democrats and Christian Democrats.

Their opponents paint them as xenophobic neo-Nazis, their supporters praise them as the new future of Germany and voice of the disenfranchised and those disillusioned with the mainstream parties. But in the end, they are still all almost all rhetoric; they have no history of governance beyond being minority parties at State level.
