What is the solution to all this?
Our country cannot be run with two diametrically opposed parties. It does seem like this is the inevitable outcome of plurality voting - it can only support two parties and they keep pushing further apart (some more than others) until one is bound to fall off the deep end. The pendulum is already bashing through the side of the clock case and I fear it may not even get back to neutral this time. Are we at the point where the Rs have done enough damage both to the operation of our government and the psyche of the nation that the Ds will be powerless to repair either?
