I used to until I saw his recent appearance on the Jay Leno Show - he was so calm and subdued compared to his usual ranting self that the “yes, it’s definitely an act” light bulb went off for me. If he was capable of moderating his “craziness” for a normal-people audience, that shows it’s merely performance art to appeal to the crazed, paranoid, or just plain stupid true believers who watch him.

Yes, but I think he both has genuine mental health issues, and consciously plays a rodeo clown (which is his own description of himself.)
The extent to which he knowingly manipulates people and lies makes him culpable for the crap he spews, as well as crazy.
