There’s a lot of aspects I think are unworkable, like an insistence that moving beyond racial prejudice is not practically possible, and that the best we can do is establish political, social, and economic safeguards to counteract racial privilege. I think there’s a practical middle-ground to be had.

But as a critique, it’s very, very relevant, and a lot of the critiques of the way that civil rights have progressed are very apt; only when a group itself has gained actual political power has that group made large strides.
