One of the earliest examples of irrational prejudice I recall was my Lutheran grandmother refusing to speak to her Catholic relatives.

My wife is Lutheran, and I am a 40 year recovering RC (day by day doing my best to piss off the religious right, one day at a time). She brought up all our kids in the church until their confirmation. Then it was their choice if they stayed with church or not.
