Trump’s flagrant over-spending, leading to record deficits, enabled by Republicans in Congress, are all part of the populist deconstruction of society.

When the rich do not care for society but only their own pocket, we are in a state where social angst can rise quickly.

As dimwitted as many Trumpers are, their angst is still angst. It may be manipulated by Trump (and Murdoch and the rest), but the angst rises out of a feeling of displacement in society.

There isn’t an easy way out of this. The only way to handle a total debt that grows to be equivalent to a GDP is to do austerity measures, which will bring about more angst.

Societies are built by cooperation. When those in power see that their benefit is built upon the destruction of other, then the whole shebang is in trouble.
