There’s every reason to subpoena him, but I think we have to be realistic about the chances that we’re going to get anything useful from the walking turd. Odds right now are that he’s either going to drag things out by taking his chances with a judge or he’s going to stonewall the committee in order to respect the letter if not the spirit of the subpoena. After all, what does he really gain by cooperating with the committee besides getting out from under the subpoena?

I believe people are obligated to respond fully and truthfully in these settings, and if he simply says “I don’t know,” “I don’t remember,” a judge may decide to give him the maximum sentence available.
