Because I generally trust our elected officials of both parties to follow the stupidest course of action and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory whenever possible, I’m worried that Dems are going to spend 2013 going full-throttle on gun control and nothing else, giving the GOP a chance to take “ownership” of economic issues. Eventually the shock of Newtown will wear off, and people will get sick of hearing about gun control while their economic situation continues to suck. Then 2014 and possibly 2016 turns out exactly the same as 2010, with wingnut tea partiers being re-elected and a crop of new ones coming in.

What’s the strongest argument that my concerns are unfounded? Anyone?
