Yes very true but I think she’s wondering why we seem more than any other developed country to have these sort of things. We seem to have much more people who take the past for granted. I mean even the Tories in the UK recognize the importance of a health care system that provides for as much of its citizenry as it can.

Because we raise and (fail to ) educate people who turn out ignorant of how science works, and people who are mistrustful of government to the point of shooting themselves in the foot rather than accept its authority.
