Like all Republicans, DF was an iron-man person of unflinching resolve and fortitude, as long as it was other people’s pain and suffering he was advocating for.

He also had a lot of self-loathing, in the sense that he would have happily also advocated for his own pain and suffering to validate his own victim complex. I imagine that for many modern conservatives, they have to hate themselves at least a little, and salve that pain by hating others more. DF didn’t seem like he was steeped in hate most of the time, but rather worship of the approved Republican gods, ie. rich people, authoritarians, and their high priests like VDH.
