Let’s face it — does anyone here really think Trump believes in God? He’s not Pence. Anymouse is probably not around now — but i would argue that Trump is basically an atheist. He’s like his BFF Putin who uses religion to further his goals, but was raised in atheistic Russia, and I’m sure thinks believers are rubes who can be taken to the cleaners.

The thing is, I don’t know. He says he’s a Christian. He displays a lack of knowledge about the Bible, but so do a lot of Christians. He’s apathetic about faith, but so are a lot of Christians. Whatever Presbyterian Church he is a member of has not excommunicated him.

Even with the strong statements yesterday by Episcopalian priests and bishops deploring his actions, none of them said “you are not a Christian.” I figure a pastor or priest should be able to make that determination, not me.

I don’t engage in “he’s not a real Christian” discussions. The same claims are made about Stalin (who went to an Orthodox seminary) and Hitler (who was never excommunicated by the Catholic Church).
