AFAIK, that was not the attitude of the Founding Fathers, who rather saw unchecked government and religious bodies as evil, and who sought to find ways to keep them from fucking up the people’s lives.

It amazes me that with all the current dialogue about religion and religious extremism that religious extremists like Sen Sasse have no introspection or self doubt.
