It is possible with the exhaustive body of legal theory behind imposing legal requirements on cars and drivers (one of the most restricted actions one can do in public), those arguments could be used in reining in the extremist libertarian interpretations of the II Amendment (and for the same reason: the carnage is becoming unacceptable).

The NRA right now is in the same position as the AAA and the American Wheelmen’s Association (now defunct), arguing for absolutist rights without responsibility. When public opinion turned against the auto clubs, they started losing in court.

Unfortunately that the courts are now being filled with Federalist Society judges with no ethics or moral who will overturn every decent decision of the past 50 years. Too bad the Bernie Bros thought this was a small price to pay to stop Hillary. Of course, most of them don’t really think things through
