I think the public is seeing it that way too which is why I think they’re pushing full speed ahead ignoring the icebergs. I think they know that they’ve lost so they might as well get the elusive 5th Justice.

Kavanaugh is already one of the more unpopular judicial nominees, with approval ratings among the public in the 30s and even among the GOP he’s only in the 70s. The whole “He’s such an awesome guy!” bit seems to have been their only card to play and that’s becoming more tattered with each passing day. At this point, the only thing keeping him from being dumped altogether is that he really is their one shot at seating that 5th far-right vote before next January.
