There was a rather forgettable SF story I once read, about a rebbe who was asked to judge whether meat from a breed of genetically-modified pig with non-cloven hooves was kosher.

Cloven hooves and rumination are the requirements for a kosher animal. The reason swine are not kosher is because they are not ruminates.
