Well, according to the >actual Bible, Sodom and Gommorah were destroyed because the rich, greedy people there refused to help the poor and needy, but for some reason Ezekiel 16:49 never seems to come up in mainstream American Christianity. I wonder why.
Even Ezekiel 16:49 only mentions Sodom. Shiplord’s point is that the rising action in Genesis 19 all takes place in Sodom, that’s where Lot lives, where the angels posing as itinerant poor people meet him, where the crowd assembles, etc. One can read Genesis 18 and infer that the two town’s sins are identical, but this isn’t actually stated outright. The first time Gomorrah is mentioned in Genesis 19 God is raining sulfer down on it.
