re: #107 Mattand
One fine gentleman in particular wanted to know if my friend thought he was stupid, as took to reminding everyone he was a psychologist with a 154 IQ (twice, that I know of). Instead of just walking away, I wrote the following:
The overwhelming majority of people with a high IQ need neither wave their educational achievements nor their IQ around. (Itās pretty much an appeal to authority.)
Moreover, an advanced degree in any subject is not evidence of a high IQ. (High intelligence makes learning easier, but guarantees nothing by itself.) Likewise, lower academic achievement is not indicative of an average or low IQ.
It really pissed me off. This guy at one point used a DARVO to claim that HRC was the amoral one. And then I started thinking about all of the false balance āEveryone is in their own bubbleā and the āWe need to reach out to and be nice to the Trump supportersā and Iām like āFuck. That.ā
Iāll be nice to a Trump voter who realises what went wrong and works somehow to fix it. A wingnut parroting talking points, thatās a religion and I have little patience arguing with someoneās religion.
Multiple studies have shown that people of higher IQs tend to lean more liberal (and less religious).
re: #111 Belafon
My IQ is around that level and I voted for Clinton. IQs are generally based on being able to find patterns in data. Iām going to therefore guess mine is at least 146 since I found one pattern he did not.
Edit: In truth, I think my IQ is blue.
I like that. āI think my IQ is blue.ā Can I steal that line?
