Trump’s always more concerned about appearances than actually doing his fucking job. He’s a failure, and is more concerned that people within his admin are calling out his failures, incompetence, and flat-out criminal acts. So he makes a big deal of launching investigations or probes into the “deep state” which don’t find anything, but his base doesn’t care because they believe anything Trump says.

Reality is a harsh mistress, and the fact is that his admin has been an abject failure, and only the US has managed to bend the curve upwards - thanks to his failure to push a national policy on masking, social distancing, all to stop the spread of covid19. 133,000+ deaths, 3 million cases, and hospitals overwhelmed all around the country - from Florida to Texas.

None of these GOP states learned the lessons from NYC metro, and are insistent on making entirely new ones - like forcing K-12 schools to reopen even as cases surge to record highs on a daily basis just a month out. Florida’s experiencing exponential growth in cases - explosive cases. DeSantis is trying to hide hospitalization data, even as the cases mount. It’s not just testing, it’s the hospitalizations and deaths that follow that we’re already starting to see.
