The only “person” Donny listens to is his own ego. And his ego has been so bruised in recent months by suggestions that he’s unfit and possibly suffered mental impairment, that bowing out of a debate with a guy who he’s regularly accused of being “senile” would be a major blow to said ego. So he’s gonna show up, if only to then have one of his staff cut together a video of “gaffes” from Joe to say “proves” that he’s too gone mentally to be trusted with the presidency.

Recall that his cult were all in on his dominating Hillary and claiming victory during the 2016 debates. Trump cannot physically dominate Biden; they may not even be on the same stage; but he will go off tangent and ignore the questions. How will the moderators ever force him to respond to a specific question? And on the rare occasion he does answer, he will lie about his actions and policies. He will use the platform as a campaign rally to display to the typical low-information voter his prowess.

Meanwhile Biden may feel obliged to address the questions, and thereby allow many of Trump’s allegations to go unanswered — because there is a Gish Gallop of them whenever he speaks.
