EVERY Trump voter made the same Faustian bargain. Wealthy, ‘fiscally conservative moderates’ traded social justice, the planet, their daughter’s rights, international relations, safe gun policy, the health care of millions and much more for their own tax cut. The struggling, white middle class traded it all for a fictional job promise.

And now we can see that the bargain got worse - what seemed like a temporary political compromise is becoming an indelible moral stain.

The white middle class traded it for the freedom to hate people publicly. That’s why they won’t change their vote whether they get a job or not. They’re getting what they really wanted - the ability to display the hatred that FOX gives them, and the visceral pleasure of watching someone bully the people FOX told them to hate.
