But Dems have the power of the purse now.

Hence (I think) Sen. Schumer’s “magnanimous” offer of $1.5B for “Wall” funding: Trump will probably sputter away, and try to get Congressional GOPers to fund his asinine Wall to the max: Said Congress will probably just dither and blither, and in the end (I’m guessing) we get another Continuing Resolution (or its equivalent), and the whole mess gets put off till the next Congress: sans Wall. And Chuck Schumer can just shrug and say “well, we made a reasonable offer….” (translation from Brooklynese: “Fuck you very much, Mr. President…”)
