Interesting fact. Leon Theremin, the inventor of the Theremin (duh) designed a passive bug that was in the Moscow Ambassadors study for your. Had no electronic parts and only transmitted when a radio signal of the correct frequency hit it. It was hidden in a presentation plaque!

Another fact. I own a Theremin.

Do you know if the Theremin concept made it into the early Moog synthesizers?

The reason I ask is when I saw Emerson, Lake and Palmer, there was a point in one song it looked like Keith Emerson flipped open the keyboard area of one of his mini-Moogs took out a what looked like a flat bar and played it someone like a Theremin, only instead of having his hands in proximity to a rod he was touching areas of the bar and getting the same type of sounds.

I have no idea how a mini Moog was constructed, but maybe when you pressed a key it contacted the “bar” and gave you a note, so the bar must be tuned to the scale.

And then I may be completely out to lunch, but I still remember him messing with an element from out of his one synth. Your mention brought that all back. Heh.
