re: #133 Belafon
My only concern is this: If we win the Senate 50-50, we might as well consider it 49-51.
Say what again?
At 49-51, McConnell remains majority leader, Republicans control Judiciary and all the other committees, and the Senate remains the place where democracy goes to die.
At 50-50 with a Democratic VP to break the tie, we get Schumer as majority leader and Democratic control of the committees.
If putting up with Joe Manchin is the price of making that happen, I will walk naked down the main drag of Parkersburg trailing a “Thank you, Manchin” banner.
If, and ONLY if, Manchin starts threatening to switch sides on leadership votes, I’ll switch to team “screw you, Joe.” But for now I’d rather have him inside the tent pissing out, as the saying goes.
