I could use that description to define Tom Clancy as well.

My biggest aggravation about Tom Clancy’s fantasies was how every expensive military gadget always worked perfectly, first time & every time.

“Maxim 48: If it ain’t broke, it hasn’t been issued to the infantry.” Or the Navy. Or the Corps. Or the even the Air Force :)
