I’m watching Facebook idiots (thankfully, friends of friends) start harping about we’re in Syria to seize an oil pipeline, and that “it doesn’t make sense that Assad would bomb his own people.”

Pardon the heat of this, but—the right and left are unified in not knowing fucking anything about geopolitics or history, and it’s fucking exhausting. They don’t know they’re the metropole, and all this braying amounts to ignoring what’s being said by the people getting murdered in the periphery.

They’ve found the narrative that makes them feel good, important, and righteous/correct.

The irony that they’re accepting information from a state-run press of a socially-conservative petrostate that’s fucking over its own citizens just doesn’t fucking penetrate. If its not “liberal fake news” or “untrustworthy globalist press (something, something, neoliberals)” is must have validity, right?
