Having read the article, and that thing I posted earlier, I really, truly wish I could buy back my previous state of not knowing about these people.

It’s the kind of thing that makes me wonder whether we’d all be better off without the internet, and I say that realizing the irony of wondering that ‘aloud’ on the internet, while holding a job which depends to a surprising extent on the internet. I mean, the cake is already baked, the cat is out of the bag, Pandora’s box is open. But still, the self-radicalizing nature of the internet is a problem.

The internet is transformative, for sure, but I personally think the only thing the internet contributed to “incel” is that these guys got together and came up with a team name. There were assaults and rapes before the internet.

How about the flip side? I think it would have been much harder to bring down Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby without the internet, because it would have been harder for these women to go “Hey, that’s what my story sounds like.”
