So, the IT guy for one of the companies I teach for now has my Sony Vaio - and hopefully, with any luck, he can get it working again. For free!

He’s sitting on a ton of laptop and desktop parts, and he has absolutely nothing to do, so for him, this is one of those “challenge accepted” sort of things.

It’s an almost eight-year old laptop, so I’m not counting on it, but hey……if he can get it working again, that’d be great. And greatly appreciated.

Meanwhile, the Acer Aspire One antique seems to be running pretty good for the time being (knock on wood) after I loaded LUbuntu 18.04 on it (LUbuntu being a lite version of the Ubuntu OS, which is probably best for this old beast running an Intel Atom CPU).

if it’s an overheating problem and you havent thought of it, my experience is if you can open up the bottom you may find the cpu has been totally covered by dust that has been sucked in over time.
