Yes, it can be taken as racist, literally; but on the other hand I see Glenn Beck as too smart to say that if he thought about it beforehand, and too stupid to think before he speaks.

I hear comments from the right about the glorious past too often to see this one any differently. The common thread is a cultural issue, even though the past culture was certainly racist; but my point is that if we want to we can reduce many things to racism just because that is the simplest label to use.

As an example, someone in the school system here made a reference to a problem school (largely black) and the small number of “hoodlum” students who were causing problems. Incredibly the local NAACP spokesman and a black racist group called Uhuru called for that person (white) to resign or be fired.

Surprise! Some black people think they own the English word Hoodlum because it includes the letters h-o-o-d. Beats me how that becomes racist, but if you had heard the words I said when when I first read about it you would have called me a racist. I am not; but I have no false respect for certain cultural memes.

At least you are not niggardly with your arguments.
