Well for example, if I wanted to kiss a girl, especially for the first time, I could just ask: May I kiss you?

Or I could slowly move towards her lips, giving her the time to understand what I’m up to and giving her the time to turn away or do whatever she wants to.

Hollywood may promote bad examples but I don’t do kisses “by surprise”.

Just an example.

Sounds like watching Hollywood productions was the only time you came close to kissing someone…
