Heh. There are these awesome church paintings in Italy that my dad, the medievalist, calls the “supersaint” paintings. It was a short-lived tradition to show saints acting as, basically, superheroes. Like, the painting will show a child falling from a tree, and a supersaint, his legs in a cloud as he zooms along, rushing towards him to catch him.

Or he’ll be, like, stopping the roof of a building from falling while people run away, floating in mid-air.

I think people quickly realized how corny that was.
