But why did you bring that up? It’s not like anybody disputed it or that was an issue. You explicitly compared it to the murders too. You also wrote about “killing those in the society that enslaved him”, while actually his main fault is murdering those who had nothing to do with it, i.e. children.

I’m not sure what you’re not understanding. I’m saying that, to my mind, I can understand, put myself in the shoes of, a murderer, more easily than that of someone enslaving someone else.

I’m not in any way exculpating Turner from his crimes. If he’d just gone around killing actual slavemasters with whips in their hands, I’d have considered him a foolish man but ethically pretty much okay. By killing innocents, he’s a terrorist, a murderer, and deserves no ones praise or adulation.

The point I’m making is not that because I can’t understand slavery that it’s the worse crime, but that it’s just so damn foreign it’s hard to even hold in my head.
