You don’t think you are taking a position, but you are. You are shrugging your shoulders and saying it’s unimportant what politicians want to do about the question. Would you feel the same way if there was a good percentage of the voting public who wanted to allow the government to force you to, say, donate a kidney upon request? I suspect not.

Speaking as a mother of 2, pregnancy isn’t just a matter of carting a little extra weight around with you. It can make it difficult to impossible to do whatever work one usually does. Side effects include nausea, exhaustion, difficulty standing for long periods of time-especially late in pregnancy, and this is for a normal pregnancy. There are also a variety of conditions that can be life threatening and/or sufficiently debilitating to require quitting a job. For any woman, but particularly a young single woman this can completely derail her life.

There are women who go through pregnancy with flying colors, never feeling better in their lives, but even they should have a choice about whether to literally provide their body for the use of a genetically separate individual.

Full disclosure: I love my children, if I had it to do over, I absolutely would. Pregnancy was not the high point of my life. ;)

The unimaginable responsibility of having another life inside you is not something that can be described in words.

And that life’s impact on your life —with every breath you take.

NO MAN CAN FATHOM THIS.
