I have built into my calculations the disgusting part of my country. I am not surprised by it. I see it both openly and subtly displayed around me. And I’m white. I know that I’m only seeing the cockroaches that hazard a trip out from under the fridge.

Not doing defeatism. I’m readjusting my perceptions, because I really want to understand what we’re facing. I would never have thought that a man like Roy Moore was revealed to be could win a Senate seat, but he came damned close to it. Only by out-organizing them, and only because POCs were energized and got out to vote did we stop him. That has to be the model for the future.
